Frequently Asked Questions: How Can My Business Save On Electric?
RD Energy’s program is straightforward and available to customers behind AEP and First Energy utilities. RD Energy will review your most recent utility bill to determine if your company is eligible for savings as well as provide an estimate of the amount of savings you can expect. Nearly all electric business users behind Ohio Edison, Toledo Edison and Cleveland Illuminating have the opportunity to save at least 5.75% with the potential of up to 20% savings with custom pricing. Low usage volume businesses behind AEP have the opportunity to save up to 18% in year one and up to 24% in year two and year three. Larger volume accounts can have substantially greater savings on electric generation costs.
AEP and First Energy utility rates were fixed annually. Electric market prices have fallen significantly, creating an opportunity for customers to leave the higher utility generation rates and capture the current low market rate at a fixed rate for up to three years. Right now the best prices available are for three years. The longer term contract is the most recommended and most accepted. Many businesses understand the sense of urgency in responding to this opportunity for one very simple reason; to take advantage of this savings opportunity while it is available. Market prices will rise. We just don’t when and by how much. We recommend you act soon to get included in the large number of accounts that have already made the switch to a lower cost alternative for electric supply.
How do we know what our savings will be?

- For accounts that use more than 150,000 kwh/year RD Energy can provide a custom price offer with your participation in the usage authorization process and the possibility of up to 20% savings!
- For those accounts that receive a custom price a savings analysis will be provided for review to see the savings potential.
- No obligation! Remember that until you see a price you like and until you actually sign the supplier contract you have absolutely no obligation to buy from RD Energy. We’ll provide the opportunity to save and then you get to decide if the moment is right.
Why does RD Energy need my electric utility bill?
Your utility bill contains information on your usage that allows RD Energy to determine how much guaranteed savings we can offer and if your business qualifies for a custom price quote. Sending RD Energy your electric bill in no way commits you to anything. It is simply part of the process that allows RD Energy the opportunity to inform you what savings opportunity exists.

What do I do in case of emergency if I buy natural gas through an alternative energy supplier?
If there is any issues regarding your natural gas service at your business or home, call your utility company immediately, as it will continue to service
you as it always has, regardless of your current energy supplier.
Why should I choose an alternative natural gas supplier?
The vast majority of consumers who have switched to an alternative supplier give the reason for doing so as primarily price stability against unexpected price surges that can wreck a business or household financial budget. Although there is seldom a guarantee to save money, price protection and price stability in addition to having the opportunity to potentially save money versus the utility makes having a program choice attractive to many. When consumers are choosing an alternative supplier and a price plan they should compare price, contract length, contract renewal language, the cancellation fee amount and the supplier reputation in the market.
